Therapies and Activities to Enrich life

Our passion for people being able to live life as they wish means we have a person centred approach and therapies and activities are tailored to people's capacity.

This means lives are enriched in many ways from being involved in everyday life activities such as, watching the wildlife, gardening, reading, having tea with family and friends to activities such as Art, Music, Reminiscence and Laughter therapy, to film nights and concerts to trips out. As a result we find people retain and often regain everyday life skills.

The opportunity for people to express themselves artistically through Art and Music is a joy to behold. It is believed that we were the first nursing home in the UK to work with an Artist in Residence, Sarah Edwards, in 1995. Her classes and one-to-one sessions are extremely popular.

Several residents have even put on their own displays and had exhibitions attended by the Mayor and other dignitaries. And visits to art galleries and museums, including Tate Liverpool and Lowry Salford, are part of our planned activities. We were delighted when Sarah received an accolade at the Wales Care Awards and thrilled to win an Arts, Business and Sustainability Award for work described as 'truly inspirational'.

Our commitment to the Arts in enriching lives extends to Music. Seeing the reaction to Music sessions whether it is with The Halle Orchestra, The WNO Singing Doctors or Enrichment Champions trained to use Music to enrich lives - is wonderful to see. And many family and friends enjoy being involved in these sessions too.

We are experts in using enrichment activities to enrich the lives of people with Dementia, including innovative reminiscence, nature & wildlife, pet, exercise, laughter, scent and gardening. Highly skilled staff means that we are able to support highly dependent people to enjoy many enrichment activities.
