Residential Care for Older People

Gwern Alyn and Hillbury Care homes provide a friendly, warm, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for older people requiring residential, nursing, respite and day care. For residential clients whose needs may change, nursing can be provided without the need for an unsettling move.

There is a sense of community and we treat people the way we would like to be treated ourselves – with dignity, respect and compassion. There is a real family feel and relatives often get to know other residents and their families too. Our family support groups are also very popular. We believe in promoting independence with support on hand when required and recognize that everyone is different, with different interests, so there is plenty of space and lots of lounges, which means residents can socialise or do their own thing.

The homes are located in a conservation area and surrounded by seven acres of beautifully laid out mature gardens and trees. The shops, cafes and amenities of Wrexham town centre are within walking distance. Residents can choose from a wide range of delicious home cooked meals. Gwern Alyn is an attractive period property, fully modernised yet preserving its original architectural features and character. Hillbury stands on a former convent site in beautiful grounds and has spacious rooms and its own chapel where our multi-denominational services and concerts are held.

Our highly qualified and experienced team, chosen for their cheerfulness and caring nature, organise an interesting range of personal and group activities including outings, craft work and musical events.

Physiotherapy is available and our resident artist oversees the requirements of those who wish to pursue an existing or new interest in creative arts including art therapy.
